Do not expect a next-day change. Nutrient status shifts over weeks, so plan on two to three weeks of consistent use before your intake is genuinely topped up. What you are buying is a steady baseline, not a quick fix during a cold.

Can I take vitamin C, vitamin D and zinc together?

Yes, and many combination products already do exactly that. Taking them in one sitting with food is fine and makes the habit easier to keep.

Two practical notes. Vitamin D absorbs better with a meal that contains some fat. Zinc on an empty stomach causes nausea for some people, so lunch or dinner is a safer slot. Is it safe to take zinc every day?

At sensible doses, yes. UK advice is not to take more than 25 mg a day from supplements unless a doctor says otherwise, because long-term high intakes interfere with copper absorption and can upset your stomach.

The common mistake is stacking: a multivitamin, an immune formula and a separate zinc tablet together can pass 25 mg without you noticing. Pick one zinc source, check the label, and review after a few weeks whether you still need it daily.

Do elderberry, echinacea and mushroom extracts actually do anything?

We can only tell you what is approved, and for these plants nothing is. In Europe, no health claim has been authorised for elderberry, echinacea, or mushrooms such as reishi and cordyceps in relation to immune function, so we do not claim one.

People still buy them, often as a seasonal extra alongside vitamin D and zinc rather than instead of them. If you like the format and the taste, that is a fair reason. Just judge them on that, not on a promise.

What should pregnant women or people on medication check first?

Vitamin A is the main one to watch. UK guidance advises pregnant women to avoid supplements containing retinol and to avoid liver, because too much vitamin A can harm the baby. Many immune and multivitamin formulas include it, so read the ingredient list rather than the front of the pack.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women are advised to take 10 micrograms of vitamin D daily. If you take prescription medication, including anticoagulants, blood pressure medicines or antibiotics, ask your pharmacist about timing and interactions before adding anything.
