Royal Green Vegan Omega-3 (60 softgels) is a plant-based omega-3 supplement made from algae oil, a sustainable alternative to fish oil. The oil is derived from the microalgaĀ Schizochytrium sp. and naturally contains the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA in a 3:1 ratio. Each softgel contains 375 mg DHA and 125 mg EPA. The algae are cultivated under controlled conditions and are free from contaminants such as heavy metals and dioxins. The softgels are free from fishy taste and are packed in dark glass to protect against light, air, and moisture. Suitable for daily use and for people who do not consume fish.
Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids that naturally occur in, for example, fish, algae, and flaxseed. In this supplement, they come from microalgae.
EPA and DHA are two different forms of omega-3. They each have a different molecular structure and are often found together in algae oil or fish oil. In this product, the DHA:EPA ratio is 3:1.
Algae are the original source of EPA and DHA in the food chain. Unlike fish oil, algae oil is completely plant-based and suitable for people who do not use animal products.
ALA is a plant-based form of omega-3 found in, for example, flaxseed and walnuts. EPA and DHA occur directly in fish oil or algae oil. These three fatty acids differ in structure and origin.
