NOW Foods Magnesium & Calcium (100 and 250 tablets) is a high-dose dietary supplement with a 2:1 ratio, containing no less than 800 mg magnesium and 400 mg calcium per serving of three tablets. Additionally, each daily serving includes 25 micrograms of vitamin D3 and 15 mg zinc. This supplement is suitable for individuals with an increased need for these nutrients.
The requirement varies by life stage and individual circumstances. In general, it is recommended for adults to consume 1000 mg of calcium per day. For magnesium, the recommendation is 300 mg per day for adult women and 350 mg per day for adult men.
This means the supplement contains twice as much magnesium as calcium. Many people already get enough calcium through diet (dairy, vegetables, nuts) but less magnesium. Magnesium absorption from food is lower and is used up more quickly during intense activity or a busy lifestyle.
Calcium: Milk, cheese, yogurt, broccoli, kale, nuts, and legumes. Magnesium: Spinach, nuts, seeds, whole grains, legumes, and bananas.
