It naturally provides gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and linoleic acid (LA), both omega-6 fatty acids. The oil is obtained by cold pressing to preserve the quality of the active ingredients. Borage oil, also known as starflower oil, is a plant oil extracted from the seeds of the borage plant (Borago officinalis).
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is an omega-6 fatty acid that naturally occurs in plant oils such as evening primrose oil, borage oil, and black currant oil. The body can produce GLA to a limited extent from linoleic acid, but this conversion is not always efficient.
