Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin. Dissolving it in oil, such as extra virgin olive oil, makes it practical to use and easy to combine with meals.

Extra virgin olive oil contains little omega-6 fatty acids. Because many people already get enough omega-6 through their diet, it is a conscious choice to limit it in this supplement.

It can be taken at any time of the day, preferably with a meal. Thanks to the oil solution, it is also possible to use it at another time.

Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) is usually derived from plant sources such as mushrooms and yeast. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is often obtained from animal sources, such as wool fat (lanolin). D3 is also naturally found in foods like fatty fish and eggs. Both forms are used in supplements, but they are different types of vitamin D with their own origins.
