Aquamin® is a natural source of calcium, obtained from red sea algae (Lithothamnium calcareum) that grow in the Atlantic Ocean. This algae naturally contains calcium and other minerals.

Magnesium malate is an organically bound form of magnesium. This form is often used in supplements because of its good solubility and neutral taste.

Calcium from algae is of natural origin and often contains, in addition to calcium, traces of other minerals. It is harvested from seawater using sustainable harvesting methods.

Vitamin D comes in two forms: D2 (ergocalciferol) and D3 (cholecalciferol). D2 is usually derived from plant sources such as mushrooms, while D3 traditionally comes from animal sources such as lanolin. Nowadays, there are also plant-based D3 sources available, for example from lichens. In supplements, D3 is often chosen because of its stability and wide availability.

Chemically, plant-based vitamin D3 is identical to the animal variant, but the source differs. Plant-based D3 is usually derived from lichens and is suitable for vegans.

Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) is mainly found in green leafy vegetables. Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) is a collective name for multiple forms (such as MK-4 and MK-7) and is produced by bacteria, for instance in fermented foods. In supplements, vitamin K2 as menaquinone-7 is often chosen due to its clear dosage and long-term availability in the body.
