Wax
Wax
Hair wax is a styling product with many possibilities. In addition to hydrating your hair, wax can improve the volume, shine, structure, and texture of your hair.
What is the difference between gel and wax?
For those who don’t know: gel differs from wax because it is made from water mixed with alcohol and other ingredients. This gives you a wet look when you apply it. Wax, on the other hand, is a natural product that is very pliable and does not dry out like gel. That’s why it gives you a greasier but warmer, matte finish.
How do you use hair wax?
Here are the five steps to styling your hair with wax.
- Start with a small amount of wax on your finger. Depending on the amount of hair you have, scoop out a pea-sized amount. Otherwise, too much hair wax can give you a greasy look.
- Wax is a hard product, so you need to warm it up first. Spread the wax over your palms and rub them together until the wax is completely melted.
- Apply the wax to your hair. Start at the back of your head and slowly brush toward the surface of your hair at the front. By applying a thin layer to the top, you prevent it from clumping in one spot. Also, make sure to close your hands when you reach the ends of your hair so the tips get some product as well.
- Start styling your hair. We recommend a slicked-back look, side part, or a similar style, but start forming the hairstyle you want. If you think you need more wax, gradually apply extra amounts.
- Fix stray hairs, create more volume, and finish off the hairstyle. The last step is to put the finishing touches on your look.
