Pill boxes, shakers and storage that fit your daily routine
Accessories add no nutrients. They decide something else: whether you actually take what you bought, and whether it is still in good condition when you do. So we treat them as part of the routine, not as an afterthought.
Pill boxes: count the compartments, then check the depth
Most people buy too small. A vitamin D tablet takes up almost nothing, but omega-3 softgels and magnesium capsules are bulky. With four or five items a day, a 7-day box with one compartment per day is full by Tuesday. Check three things: compartments per day (once, AM/PM, or three times), depth of each compartment, and the lid. Push-button and flip-up lids are easier with a weak grip. Clip-shut travel pill cases stay closed in a handbag. Boxes with removable daily trays let you take one day out instead of the whole week.
Shakers: mixing, sealing and cleaning
A shaker mixes by turbulence. A mesh screen breaks up clumps better in thick protein drinks; a wire ball is easier to clean. For one serving, 600 to 700 ml leaves enough space to mix properly, while a 1 litre bottle suits long sessions and sipping. Screw-on lids leak less in a gym bag than flip caps. Stackable containers screw under the base, so you can carry a measured dose of powder without taking the whole tub. Odour is nearly always dried residue, so rinse straight after use.
Tools, and where to keep everything
Not everything here goes with water. You will also find funnels, scoops, pill cutters and skincare tools such as microneedling rollers. One rule covers all of it: heat and damp shorten shelf life. A cool, dark, dry cupboard is better than a bathroom shelf, and an airtight case protects capsules that pick up moisture, like fish oil.
How we choose accessories
We use the same logic here as with supplements: the form, the fit and honest use. We look at compartment depth, because a box that will not close over an omega-3 softgel is useless. We prefer food-grade, BPA-free plastic and lids you can open with one hand. We buy directly from the brands, so the item you receive is the item in the photo. Every product passes our compliance team, and we handle and test accessories ourselves before we recommend them. In more than ten years we have turned down more accessories than we kept. You can read how we select.
This collection suits you if you take several supplements a day, travel with them, or mix powders. If you take one tablet with breakfast, you probably need nothing here, and we would rather say so. For everyone else, the right box or bottle is what turns a good plan into a habit you keep for months.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a supplement accessory?
Everything around the supplement itself. In this collection that means pill boxes and travel cases, shakers, bottles and stackable powder containers, funnels and scoops, pill cutters, and care tools such as skin rollers. None of them contain nutrients. Their job is practical: keeping doses separated, keeping powder mixed instead of clumped, and protecting capsules from air, light and damp until you take them.
Do I really need a pill box if I only take two supplements?
Probably not. If you take one or two items at the same moment each day, the original tub next to the kettle works fine and keeps the label and expiry date with the product. A pill box starts to earn its place when you take three or more items, split them between morning and evening, or leave the house with them. Then the box is mainly a memory aid, not storage.
Which type of pill box should I choose?
Match the box to how many times a day you take something and where you take it.
| Type | Compartments | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Daily pocket case | 1 to 3 per day | Work, gym, one day out |
| Weekly box, once daily | 7 | One fixed moment a day |
| Weekly box, AM/PM | 14 | Morning and evening split |
| Weekly with removable trays | 7 trays | Taking one day with you |
| Stacker under a shaker | 1 to 2 | Capsules plus powder |
Deep compartments matter more than the number if you take large softgels.
How do I stop my shaker from smelling?
The smell comes from protein or carbohydrate residue that dries in the seal, the screw thread and the mesh screen. Rinse the shaker with cold water right after drinking, then wash it properly the same day; hot water first can bake protein onto the plastic. Take the lid, seal and screen apart when you wash. Let all parts air dry separated, because a closed damp bottle is what turns stale.
Can I fill a pill box for a whole month ahead?
You can, but a week at a time is the safer habit. NHS patient guidance is to keep medicines in their original packaging where possible and to use pill boxes with care, because the original tub protects against light, air and moisture and carries the expiry date. Once tablets sit loose for weeks, damp is the main risk. Fill weekly, keep the original packs, and store the box in a cool, dark, dry cupboard.
Are these plastics BPA-free, and can they go in the dishwasher?
We prefer food-grade, BPA-free plastic for anything that holds capsules or drinks, and that is stated on the product page. Dishwasher suitability differs per item: many shakers tolerate a top-rack wash up to around 65 degrees, while printed lids, seals and hinged pill boxes often survive longer by hand. Very hot cycles warp thin hinges, and a warped hinge is the usual reason a pill box stops closing.
Will a pill box survive travel and hand luggage?
Look at the closure rather than the material. Push-open lids that spring apart under pressure will empty into your bag; clip-shut or magnetic lids, or a case inside a zipped sleeve, hold up better. For flights, keep supplements in your carry-on so they avoid the cold hold, and bring the original packaging or label for anything you might need to explain at security or at your destination.
How do I dose powders accurately without carrying the tub?
Two options. A stackable container that screws under the shaker holds roughly 30 to 50 grams, enough for one to two servings of protein, creatine or sports nutrition, and a funnel lid lets you pour it in without spilling. For small doses, weigh the powder at home on a 0.1 gram scale and pre-portion it, because scoops vary with how tightly the powder settles. Pre-portioning also stops you guessing on a busy morning.
